>>> Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

The Story

On one dark night, a Stork is on a night shift to carry 2 babies to their new mother. These babies aren't just any babies. They are Baby Mario and Luigi. In transit, a dark shadowy figure appears out of the blue so quick, the stork couldn't deviate. The shadowy figure was Kamek, a koopalian mage child minder for baby Bowser. Kamek managed to successfully take baby Luigi away, but dropped baby Mario. Luckily below, Mario's sidekick from Mario world, Yoshi, walks along peacefully to notice a package heading straight toward him. BAM!, Hits Yoshi on the head and drops safely onto his back. The package comes open to reveal baby Mario. A brief second later, a map hits him on the head and falls to the ground in front of him. Yoshi opens the map to see it's a map of Yoshi's Island and the route the stork was taking. Yoshi decided to take the baby back to the other Yoshis to decide what his fate should be. Upon arrival, the Yoshis decide that baby Mario seems to know where he wants to go. Yoshi, being the kind natured type, decides it's a good idea if they all help him get baby Mario to his destination. This is where your adventure begins!

The Game

The aim of the game is to help Yoshi get from A to B while keeping baby Mario safely on his back. If he gets knocked off by something or a dumb mistake you've made, get him back on as quick as you can as a timer counts down and when that clock runs out, baby Mario is taken away to be destroyed by baby Bowser. If you successfully get him back, carry on... You encounter 2 bosses per world with levels packed with surprises, good and bad.

The game itself is a work of art and is enjoyable by all ages. Yoshi's Island was released first in 1995 for the SNES and was an immediate hit across the world. If Super Mario World didn't start Yoshi's career off, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island did, with amazing style.

Yoshi's Island was also released with a special collector's edition box which came with the strategy guide. From eBay, this cost me £32 (or $61 if you're in the USA) 4 months ago so it still sells like hot cakes. Come 2003, 5 years after Yoshi's Story, Yoshi's island is re-released as a Game Boy Advance Title and named Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island.

1.- Help! My Yoshi's Island Cartridge can't hold its saves!

Your cartridge battery is running a little low. This applies to all SNES and GBA cartridges but will affect all SNES cartridges more as they are older. The battery inside the cartridges wears out and once it's dead, it loses its saves. I found that if you play a game more again, the battery does gain strength back from the input voltage from the console, strangely enough.
