Kryph Ryan Jay Yoshi is the blood prince of Yoshi Island. However, at age six, he ran away from home due to complications with his family. He was eventually picked up by a Yoshi couple who desperately wanted a child, but could not conceive. They raised Kryph as if he was their own, which delighted Kryph very much, as he has always wanted a real family. However, six years later, the Imperial Koopa Empire decided to mobilize its army upon Yoshi territory (by orders of King Bowser XXI, who decided to follow in the original Bowser’s master plans, and was well-received by the Koopa mass and parliament due to economic troubles). Although the United Mushroom Kingdom was the Koopa’s main target, it was a longs way across the ocean, so the Koopas needed Yoshi Island, which is situated between the UMK and IKE, to establish a military base. Despite aid from the UMK Army, there was still a lack of man-power to fight against the vast armies of the IEK, so the Yoshi Island parliament passed a mandatory draft into the army for all eligible Yoshi men ages 12 and older. Kryph was taken from his foster parents and placed in boot camp training, where he decided to specialize as a sniper. Kryph used the alias “Kroshi Yoshira” in his registration papers for the army. Kryph, although a skilled sniper, did not wish to kill anybody, and was therefore assigned to anti-material sniping operations. He was paired with another skilled sniper, Cyn, a chain smoker. Kryph and Cyn became friends and would take up sniping operations together to disable enemy radios, artillery, etc. However, Cyn was killed in action by Koopa sniper fire. When Kryph saw Cyn’s dead body, he saw war for what it was. He became embittered and depressed by the lost of his friend. Even more bad news was when he was informed that a Koopa bomb raid, that was targeting Yoshi civilian villages, killed both of his parents. Kryph became extremely angry, depressed, and vengeful for both Cyn’s death and the death of his parents, and decided to take solo sniping missions to assassinated high-ranking Koopa officers. Kryph became notorious for his deadly skill and ghost-like skill. Kryph became feared among Koopa soldiers for his stealth and deadliness. Kryph was also feared among Yoshi soldiers for his ruthlessness and they speculated that he took sadistic pleasure in his work because he would shoot Koopa officers in non-lethal areas in order to let them bleed for days until they died. This became such a problem that he was ordered to take psychological therapy. Kryph managed to stabilize his emotions for the lost of his parents and his friend. He abandoned solo sniping operations and wanted to fight in the front lines. However, because of his skill, he was too important for the front lines, and Yoshi officers placed Kryph in the Yoshi special force squadron as a SDM (squadron-designated marksman).
The Yoshi-Koopa War was over after five long years after Koopa rebels successfully assassinated King Bowser XXI. The new king, King Bowser XXII, under pressure and terrorist threats from anonymous Koopa rebels, decided to call upon a cease-fire and a negotiation for peace with Yoshi Island and the UMK. The war was a costly one, with Yoshi Island and the UMK suffering from 334,000 dead, the IKE suffering from 265,000 dead, and civilian casualties for both sides exceeding 1,000,000 dead. Despite the cease-fire, there was strong tension between Yoshis and Koopas. All living Yoshi conscripts were discharged from military service unless they consented to stay, and would receive compensation. All conscripts that chose to be discharged were also given mandatory psychoanalytical and psycho-therapeutic tests (to stabilize them due to the trauma of war). Kryph decided that it was time for him to go home to Yoshi Island, while the rest of his squadron deciding to stay in military service. Kryph was giving full military honors and discharged. Due to his outstanding service in the army, he received the Yoshi’s Divine Nobility Medal (highest Yoshi medal awarded) and would receive monthly monetary compensations for life. He currently lives with Eternity, his girlfriend, along with Ochre, Magenta, Vallahad, and his child, Ryan.
Although Kryph was very heroic in the war, and many times he survived because of shear luck, he was able to live through the war because of the help of Vallahad and Magenta, whom are Yoshi demi-devil and Yoshi demi-god respectively. Vallahad and Magenta went back in time and protected Kryph "behind the shadows". They could not jump out and kill all the Koopas and win the war for the Yoshies because there are also Koopa gods and devils, and the Yoshi and Koopa Gods have signed a treaty that forbade each side interfering with the others' mortals. Vallahad and Magenta was only able to do minor things like move debris around to shield an oblivious Kryph from gunfire or warn Kryph of enemy flank attacks by use of weapons fire or falling debris.
