Crisis on Yoshi’s Island This is a YA Secret Santa Story for Brenndan the Yoshi. We look down onto Yoshi’s Island to see mass destruction of mixed forces, all unknown to the area. However, a closer look reveals that behind every destructive piece of enemy war material, there are yoshies… Why would they attack their own Yoshi’s Island? Well, we’ll look behind the eyes of a teenage indigo-colored-yoshi named Brenndan, who wields the powers of a demon itself, to figure out the center of this chaos. Somehow by a miracle of fighting, he’s withstood the enemy assault, but as it persists, his energy is running down… almost fatal levels. Let us follow the eyes of this curious yoshi, gifted with much fighting skill and a chance to redeem his past eviction. ____________________________________________ As I look at the incoming assault, I can only gasp for a breath of relief. With much strain on my body, it feels as I can not persist anymore…What I’ve worked so hard for, to stop these…abominations! It’s all failed! Why would yoshies attack their own island!? Did a rebellion for power take over in the blink of an eye? I can’t figure it out! Looking up, I notice another tripod walker, loaded with much of weaponry, looking right at me. I notice a small bunch of blue pulses getting brighter by the second. This is the end… my life as a sealer of the demon, as well as my life in general, is fading now… In a glimpse of my blurry vision, I notice an orange beam of some sort plow into the area of blue light as a massive explosion takes place. My attention turns to the beam’s direction. It’s hard to determine what the figure is, but it appears as another yoshi, fighting against the invading group as well… it jumps with what appears as a large glowing two-sided sword and jams it into one of the legs before spinning it around, causing the leg to detach. The tripod starts to fall slowly as the supposedly yoshi jumps away in time to avoid being crushed by the monstrous tripod. Then, the yoshi comes to me, lending a helping hand. I take it with gratitude and stand up. The yoshi speaks. “It seems as I’ve saved another one,” the yoshi said. “What’s your name?” I’m unable to say anything due to the event that had just happened, but also from my body itself to speak. However, it’s best to cooperate. “Bren…Bren…”I try my hardest to get what I need to say. “Brenndan…” “Ah, so it’s Brenndan?” He replies back. “Yes…” I feel very dizzy, but I start to regain my vision. “You don’t look very well at all… It’s best to get you out of here for now.” I feel a sigh of relief that assistance has come… In a quick moment, I feel myself turned laterally and within the yoshi’s arms. Then, I just feel everything around me fade into darkness… I don’t know where I’m at now… I can hear echoes of voices that I can’t understand. I can only tell that one is masculine, and the other feminine. It isn’t long until everything snaps together and I look over to the right to see not one, but now two yoshies. It’s the black one that saved me earlier, and now a white one with bright blue eyes and wings. They’re negotiating to one another near me, still unaware of my awakening, although the white one is looking in my general direction. Now that I’m awake, I move a little bit to realize that what I’m laying on is what I had expected; some warm, yet fine-grained dirt. The white yoshi then notices my movements and turns the black yoshi to me. He’s the first to speak to me. “Well you surely had a scare on me there Brenndan,” He says. “I just can’t believe I’m out alive because of you,” I reply back, my voice now back with me. “I still can’t thank you enough for it. However, I never got to know your name.” “Me?” The black yoshi says back. “I’m known as Atomic Black Yoshi, or ABY. “ABY? I’ve never heard of you.” “That’s because I’m not from this world.” The saying shocks me some. “What is it now?” “I come from another dimension to be precise.” That’s just even more shocking to me. “Then how did you get here!?” ABY takes a deep breath and sighs. “On my world, it is much more complex than this here Yoshi’s Island. I come from Atomo World in another dimension, and although that’s surely the distance, we of Atomo World know of Yoshi’s Island very well.” “But how!?” I’m rather appalled around now… “There are two yoshies on our world that are very special. They have the power to instantly travel the universe through the dimensional splits between every millimeter of everywhere. One of them is a helpful yoshi, and the other one is a rival of mine, teamed up with my great rival.” “What’s his or her name?” “His name is Missile Yoshi, or MY. He gets his name from the apparent missile launchers fused on his body that runs off of his bodily energy, sort of like you do. Anyway, he’s a mechanical expert and wishes to overtake worlds to expand his control. I know he’s not a bad leader, rather intelligent in fact, but to simply control a world is just… crazy in my mind.” “So it’s like tyranny.” “You could say so… anyway, when the rivaled dimension-warping yoshi teamed with MY, MY himself had this master plan that he thought I wouldn’t stop. It was to construct all of the war machines possible and invade another dimension with the help of the dimension warper, named Illusion Yoshi.” “So how’d you get here?” “I’m allied with Dimension Yoshi, or DY. He knew about it and alerted me of it. Now, me and my sister here, Angel Yoshi--” “AY I’m guessing?” “That is correct. Anyway, we’re here to stop MY again. However, he’s brought a lot more than we can probably handle… How do you feel?” “Well… I’ve had this nasty burn on my back from one of the laser shots.” “AY can heal that up. Other than that, are your senses sharp again?” “I feel very good other than that.” “Very well… the sooner we’re back out there, the sooner we can do this.” “Wait… where are we?” “This is an underground cave AY and I found. We were using it to find any survivors and keep them here to heal, but you’re the only one so far that‘s being kept here. The rest are stored away elsewhere because the location was much closer at the time. I managed to find you alone out there with no relation to the others. This place was set up as this just in case.” “I see…” “Alright then, AY, go ahead and give him a whole-body healing.” “With pleasure ABY,” AY responds as her hands glow a bright white. She comes up to me, placing her soft hands on my shoulders which send every message of pain in the area from the aching muscles and miniature cuts.. “This will only take a few seconds. Just hold still.” AY’s faint glow increases into her hands as I feel a pulse of a chilling energy go down my spine. I can’t help but shake around from shivering. However, I can easily feel the pain and burning soothe down some, as well as a restoration of my energy. It isn’t but about ten seconds until the healing fades and AY lifts her hands. I stand up, feeling re-energized and ready to go. ABY looks at me as I see the center of his double-sided blade. “Are you ready to help finish this assault?” ABY questions me. “I’m ready to show you what I can really do,” I reply back with confidence. “Then let us go. AY, you’re coming as well.” “That’s fine with me,” AY replies, taking a deep breath afterwards. Exiting from the cave, I see the red skies of evening, smoke and fire intensifying the color. Everything else appears hazy from the heat. Time’s running out… To save this island and to regain my respect that I lost so… so long ago. It isn’t long before the hell breaks loose again as I notice the fiery beams of another tripod advance towards us. I fire a blast of dark energy back at it, and the clash of the beams is unique. My dark energy mixes into the beam as it persists forward and up into the cannon, creating a massive explosion on the bottom of the tripod. Reacting quickly, I roll off to the right to dodge the still-incoming beam. ABY appears to take another lead against the tripod to cripple it down again. He swings the double-blade around, unleashing an arc of energy. It makes me wonder how it can fire energy beams, yet retain its bladed shape. The arc beam slashes through the leg as sparks erupt everywhere. The leg appears severely severed, but still attached. From the looks, it appears to be trying to take ABY down as well when one of the legs shifts over to crush ABY. He looks up at what appears as a fate until he simply pushes himself off the ground in a high-spin backwards flip. The blade releases a large circle of spreading energy, completely severing the damaged leg. The other one tries to keep the balance with just two legs, but I can tell it’s soon to fall. For what seems as a few seconds, the tripod appears stable again. However, I notice something strange. Yellow cracks appear in the tripod body as it starts to shake. It looks as it’s about to explode with a massive force. Although I’m safe, I can tell ABY trying to hastily get away. Willing to return the favor, I put my life at risk, going full dash at the incapacitated tripod. I feel the dark energies taking around my body until they become a solid sphere. Within range, I push myself forward with a powerful jump, the dark energies start to turn red from the friction against my speed with the thick air. Fully red, my body feels invincible as the dark energy sphere crashes into the center of the tripod, knocking it off of the two legs with enough force to send it at least ten yards from its original space. Its explosion occurs, but not on its own, but from everything else critically failing. Now with the threat clear, I feel like I have wings, controlling which way I go, but at a slower pace. The red glow fades slowly as my speed drops, and never have I felt so determined to risk my life for such a reason. As I approach the ground near ABY and AY, who have regrouped, I put the sphere into a halt as it fades, putting me on the ground safely. I notice ABY look at me. “That was rather impressive of you to do that,” ABY comments. “I did it for you, to return the favor” I reply back, still full of breath. “Well you appear raring to go for some more action.” “Me? I think I can do this with you two as assistance, and vice versa.” “I really don’t think I could’ve got away from that.” AY looks at me. “Yes… I thank you very much for risking yourself like that,” AY softly says before approaching me. She places her hands on my shoulders as she looks down at me, her being at least six or seven inches taller than me. She speaks in a low voice. “ABY has been doing all of this for his life, and it has yet to cease for him,” She speaks in a worried, yet depressed tone. “I just wish it would all end… just let him have peace to say.” “Well, I can do whatever my body takes me to. Surely we’ll get places now.” I can’t really say much more else back to her. “I’ll do what I can to keep you free of your wounds, but I am a battler if it comes to it. Now… we should get going.” AY takes her hands off of my shoulders before turning around to ABY. Her wings shed a couple large feathers, one landing in my hand. The feather itself feels as its full of some sort of mystical energy. I hold onto it in my hand as I group with ABY and AY to continue the battle to resurrect my homeland… I just hope there’s life after this. (Switch to my point of view.) And so this evening rages on with the three hopes of the land battling their guts to the last bit, taking out everything from the smallest of the infantry divisions, to the largest of almost indestructible tanks. Even after at least a day of battling, the three still seem raring to go. It’s evening again, near nighttime. Everything seems quiet as the main target is located, the miniature headquarters established from the start of the invasion. This would be the final area that would need to be cleared before anything can return under control. We follow Brenndan once again as he travels with ABY and AY. They confront the headquarters in a depression area, only with a hillside to traverse. Everything around it seems clear as AY gives the A-okay to commence the final operation; defeat whoever is inside of the headquarters and lastly destroy it. (Switch to Brenndan) I can’t believe that things have looked from grim conditions to high hopes in only a day’s time. We’ve destroyed at least a hundred different machines or groups, and that’s without exaggeration. It was probably sped due to the bad layout of the machines used. Tripods are too weak in the legs to withstand anything and tank treads, although durable, have a limit. It’s just stupid… makes me wonder how MY is capable of controlling all of this and still be known as a leader. I call it suicide…. With the start of the final mission now commencing, I take a look at the steep hillside and wonder how to get down it. ABY suggests a plan. “AY, Brenndan, you two go ahead and take a flight down there. I’ll traverse down the hillside,” ABY says, appearing to take the lead role. “But I’ve never rode a flying yoshi before,” I say back… it’s only true. “Oh don’t worry Brenndan, I do all the work,” AY says again, sounding rather amused by my comment. “Just hang on and be calm.” “Alright then… let’s get moving,” ABY cuts in one last time before starting to slowly slide down the steep hillside. AY and I look at one another as I wonder how this is going to work. “So AY, how is going to work out?” I ask quietly to keep sound low. “Normally I jump in the air and ABY lands just fine, but we’ll try something different this time,” She says back, still giggling a little bit. “What we can do is that you can hop on before we take flight, simply clinching around my shoulders. Then when we take flight and I’m horizontal, you can release and sit up. As you may have noticed, I’m a very upright yoshi rather than having the saddle and curved back..” “Well… alright then…” This makes me kind of embarrassed in a way. I mean, I’m staring at a beautiful white winged yoshi, yet she’s the one who can be in command. I have a feeling she likes me in a way, and I may like her back… ah well, if this is what she wants me to try, then I best go along. I walk over behind AY as I raise my arms and place them firmly on her shoulders. Then, applying some pressure, I jump up and wrap my legs around her to where I’m secure. Lastly, she jumps up in the air with some great distance, despite the extra weight. At the peak of the jump, I look down to see the greatly descending ground of the hillside. I can only hold on for a moment as AY, once again, gives a light giggle. She turns her head around as her wings give a couple strong flaps. “Are you afraid of heights?” She asks me. “Not really… just caught me off guard,” I reply back, nothing else on my mind at the moment.” “Well hopefully you’re ready for a joy ride. If at some point you have to scream, just hold on tight. It’s possible to have fun without much noise.” I lighten up my grip on her shoulders as I sit upright, my legs dangling underneath me and AY on each side. It feels like being on a cloud of some sort, letting it take me to wherever it wants. I place my hands on her upper back instead, acquiring a little grip to ease my feeling. AY turns her head back again. “We’re going to try to keep close to the hillside to prevent detection. Now that you’re secure, we’ll see how you react on a banked curve,” AY states with caution as I feel myself tilting. For safe concerns, I place my hands around her shoulders again to increase grip. Pretty much, as soon as it started, it ends as I now face the steep hillside. I also notice us declining towards the ground as well, and from the looks I can determine the path as being a steady decline with the slope rather than a daredevil dive against it. One thing I also notice is ABY, jumping from the small rocks to different ones with ease, holding balance when needed. I think from the looks, if he wanted to, he could easily scale this mountain in a minute. Climbing up again… that’s a different story. Continuing the descent, I still keep my hands on AY’s shoulder’s with a firm, yet light grip. We’re nearly three quarters down it, and the supposedly small headquarters did not lie. It isn’t that big. I also notice some light vegetation growing around the area with some trees on the hillside, although not large. However, down here, it’s unusually cold and I feel a slight chill. While surveying the surroundings, I feel something warm lay over my hands. When I focus on them, I notice that it’s AY’s hands curved up to them. She turns her head to me once again. “It’s a cold night out here tonight,” She states what seems as the obvious. “I know… I feel a little chilled myself,” I state back, which is the only thing I can really think of to sound very polite. I know most female yoshies like that. “Well, we’re almost to the ground, and I still wish to take things slow. Are my hands warming to you?” “They’re very warm to be exact. They’re also very soft and pleasant to be touched by, just like an angel’s hand itself.” I can tell that AY blushes a little bit, showing that I have the advantage with the words for now. “But only a yoshi as sweet as you would say such a thing.” Well… things turn a little bit as I too, blush at such a comment. It’s something I’ve never really done, so it’s a strange feeling. I remain quiet afterwards, but while under AY’s hands, I twist my hands until they’re flipped over. I place my thumbs over the hands and rub them gently as the flight continues. My moment of peace has come… well, I thought it was. The silence of the night is broken when I see the headquarters become full of light on the inside, which is visible through the thin windows on top. They don’t reveal much of anything, so the area appears defenseless. AY curves a little closer to the hillside to help stay unseen. ABY and even myself are fine since our dark colors help conceal us, but AY… I feel sorry for the color white at times. What seems as a harmless disturbance, I focus back with AY, who is more focused at staying hidden at the moment. The area increases in more light as the moon comes out from behind a cloud. The area is now in unfavorable conditions to really even be flying. I speak to AY again. “We should get to the ground as quick as possible,” I say. She nods up and down as our peaceful flight takes a turn. “You might want to hang tight,” She replies back somewhat nervously. I can only obey as I release her hands and grip her shoulders again. Our flight suddenly turns into a dive-bomb descent, although away from being hit by the hillside. She twists our angle to where when we’re near the ground, it’s a steady decline. I notice her legs start to extend downward, knowing that she’s attempting to land. At this point I’m unsure on what to do. “What do you need me to do?” I ask. “Just…prepare to probably fall,” She responds back, realizing the speed of the descent is a little too quick. I feel her body start to raise up as I hold on tight. However, noticing that I can get off, I simply release and fall to the ground, which is only around four feet away. I land with a rough force, but tolerable enough to withstand without any damage. I notice AY flap her large wings outward to decrease speed as she lands without falling as she normally anticipated. Not too long afterwards, I notice ABY finally descend from the hillside and stand upright after a jumping finale. He too, has noticed the light change. “With all of these lights, we can’t really commence stealthily. Surely if MY is here, he has plenty of protection this time around,” ABY says disappointing. I look at the sky as a small smile comes to my face. “Well look up. Another cloud is coming, and it’s intersecting with the moon.” My statement appears to make ABY exhale a deep breath or relief. “That’s what we need…Once the moonlight is blocked, we’ll make a swift approach to the headquarters.” Taking a look at the cloud, it’s large in size, but moving somewhat quickly. That means we won’t have much time to make a quick, yet silent approach on the headquarters. I keep my eyes on it until I notice the light being blocked, which is the cue for us to get moving. ABY appears to have his body more lateral than vertical in his run, his arms trailing right with him by his body. AY’s dash looks similar, her wings tucked in and not too noticeable. I can only take their pace and keep with them, which I’m not sure how it’s possible. This is a speed I’ve never really taken, but I guess being with these two has helped me a lot on the inside. ABY just competes against my power and prowess, and AY is so caring and watching over me, and I can only do the same to both of them in return. The headquarters is pretty much within range to shield out the moonlight from us as we take our bodies against the wall near the entrance, which is unusually just an open door. The lights are still on, so hopefully nobody has detected us yet. However, upon entering, I know that hell is going to break loose. ABY takes a peek around the corner and rotates his arm towards the entrance, giving us the go to proceed inside. On contrary to my belief, the first steps reveal complete quietness for nobody is around. The inside appears to be large and empty with little cover. There are some stairwells and bridge overhead. I become wary and nervous at the same time. ABY heads up one of the stairwells, his feet causing only light amounts of noise on each step. AY and I follow behind, following his lead. Now at the top, all is still quiet… Is anyone even here? We continue to proceed across the bridge, which makes an X-shape to connect the four corners of a square, each holding a separate door. Also, each are numbered, starting with 1, then 2, then 3, and then… an X? That’s strange for numbering. However, we keep curiosity at bay, heading down the bridge to segment number one. ABY steps in front of the door as it opens instantly without any delay. That’s what I call a quick-sliding door. We advance inside. The hallway appears to be made of some strange material that isn’t even solid, but more like an anti-gravity substance that feels solid, but isn’t. Our steps are silent across it as I see various lines of color go around in thin, long rectangles, which must be the borders of the path. Aside from that, there’s not really anything else to note except at the end, I notice three separate doors, noted as A, B, and C. We each look into one simultaneously, only to see empty computer chairs and large computers… the place is pretty much abandoned. With nothing to see, we check each other door with each of us, only to see the same things. Now what seems as boring, we walk along the hallway path again, making sure not to fall to the ground beneath, which is tiled, but nothing to note as interesting. Now outside of segment 1, we walk along the bridge over to segment X, just to get it out of the way. It seems as a rather suspicious number because it isn’t a number. ABY walks up to the door as it slides instantly open. We take our first steps in. This room is much more active… the first steps draw attention to three yoshies as they turn around. One them I can tell is none other than MY. The missile launchers make it obvious to tell. His blue body appears very clean and untouched, so apparently he has done nothing of battle. The yoshi in the center has a gray body, and instead of missile launchers, they appear to be cannons. The last one is a dark shade of gray, and something is way different about his arms. Instead of the forearms and hands, there are blades? He has no hands, but long blades instead? That’s just crazy! After my little amazement and a moment of silence, MY steps outwards and towards us. “Well well well… ABY, you just can’t seem to leave me alone with my plans now can you?” MY questions with disbelief. “I refuse to let you spread your destruction and tyranny through even the universe MY. You just can’t seem to get that through your head,” ABY says back as I notice the instant rivalry. “So let me guess… you also brought this yoshi with you? Who’s this now? I’m guessing just someone else for the slaughter.” The response looks as it’s aimed at me, so I feel a feeling of an insult and take it back harshly. “For the slaughter!? I think not MY… if you fight as good as you can make your machinery, then this’ll be just like hitting one little thing and sending you off to a graveyard just like that!” I feel an feeling of enragement, and it feels so good to revive my dark self.” “I suggest to back down there yoshi,” The bladed yoshi says. “I may not have any past decent with MY, but these blades can be through you in a matter of seconds.” “And back at you BdY, I’d suggest you lay back too,” ABY defends his ground over me. “You know that your blades can’t touch me, and never have you nearly scored a victory over me.” I feel an insulting war comes up until the yoshi with the cannons shoots a laser into the air at the ceiling, causing a minor, yet attentive explosion. He takes the floor in speaking. “I think we best cut the chatter and just see which of us will prevail.” His voice feels as it can intimidate the bravest of souls. At the moment, knowing a battle will start soon, I close my eyes and enter a form of meditation in myself… This is a battle I can not lose… my best friend Britshi is relying on me if he’s still alive on this island of pandemonium. Upon opening my eyes, it isn’t but another second until what has been expected so long finally happens. I notice ABY fire an orange beam at MY, who manages to get out of the way. I prepare my dark energy to be ready to strike back at any instant threats. It seems I’m not the first to be hit. MY and his crazy missiles scatter around like nothing I’ve ever seen. A couple of them blast into ABY as he goes through the door, which opens instantly to protect him from a nasty blow to the head, but landing on the platform outside instead. AY retreats back as well, and knowing that it’s best to not try to take all three of them, I too back up, but firing a couple pulses of energy in response to keep them at bay. The yoshi with the blades simply crosses them over himself and looks in amusement. He looks at MY and the yoshi with cannons, and then at me with a furious rage, which seemed to have arose from nowhere. I can only watch my steps backwards to delay the time of close combat, and against someone with a blade skill to have them as arms and hands… that’s just even out of my reach. I catch a small break when I see a beam of a dark purple energy covered with purple lightning coat around the bladed yoshi in what looks as a capsule of electricity. I look over to see AY, who’s mouth has heat waves radiating from it. We both meet up with ABY back outside, the door closed behind us. ABY stands up again as he jumps off the platform to the ground. Knowing to follow I jump to the side of the wall and slide slowly, using the grip on my hands and feet to attach to the wall. Once I’m a few feet down, I jump off and regroup with ABY and AY as they look up at the door, anticipating a move to occur soon. That move doesn’t take long to arise. The door is knocked out of its hinges by a massive explosion as it flies across the room, ending on our level about twenty feet behind us. ABY looks at AY and myself. “I’ve been the only one who can really deal with Blade Yoshi,” ABY states calmly. “He’ll be my target. AY, you get CnY.” “CnY?” I ask, a little confused.” “It’s Cannon Yoshi. Brenndan, you’ll have to get MY because you seem to have the ability to massively absorb attacks of different sizes, and MY attacks in large, short bursts. He should be easier compared to BdY and CnY, who use randomizing tactics.” I don’t have much time to acknowledge in words, so I give a quick nod before the three of us back up some and prepare for the three of them to come down and begin their assault. As expected the three of them decide to even the field with a dash from off the steps. I notice BdY jump very high into the air with no definite target. On the ground, I notice MY take sight at me, preparing his missiles. To interrupt the process, I decide to get close and personal because surely, he’s not suicidal against himself to take me down. With my iron-feeling fists ready to hit like lead weights, I just focus straight on MY and move in, starting with a swift kick to MY’s right leg. I know hitting low might throw him off balance, so I’ll go with that plan. One thing that comes to sight though… I notice his hands and feet are clawed, and appear very sharp. Although a few slashes aren’t fatal, I should still watch myself. With the kick connecting to make a stunning blow, I start with the quick hits by using straight hits, thanks to my martial arts, to keep him disoriented. I swing another kick up to around his head, which he somehow reacts to and avoids. Taking a counter-action, I flip into a barrel-roll style to land another massive kick to the side of MY’s face, surely stunning him for enough time to gain my stance again. He shakes his head, only to be hit by my strong hits again. The one thing about a long-range yoshi; They’re too easy up close. My personal belief comes to backfire as I hear his missiles take launch at this close range, creating what seems as an area-engulfing explosion, singing me severely, but surely him as well. After the smoke passes, I notice MY ready for more, still looking rather untouched, even after such a scene. When I’m ready to go again, something catches me off guard. I notice a large blue laser aim at me, and in quick reflexes, I fire a dark blast of energy into the laser. It seems to take the same effect as with the tripods, phasing through the beam and to the source. However, this beam I can’t avoid as it detonates into another explosion, blasting me off of my feet at least a yard in length. From what seemed as a quick and easy victory is turning against me. Although CnY appears severely impaired at the moment from the cannon backup, I myself might be losing it too. The suicidal explosion and then that unexpected beam. I guess MY, for him to easily withstand such an explosion, has been through it so many times. However, I can’t let down now, so I advance again relentlessly. This time, MY seems to take defense to block out my punches which have been dealing some damage. To break the chain, I do another low kick to stun him out of the block, then pummel and pummel. My streak feels interrupted again when out of the corner of my eye, I notice BdY coming right at me. Luckily, I notice ABY fire another beam that not only hits BdY, but it persists to hit MY as well with some of the blast. They both have skin that appears blazing hot for a moment before cooling. The delay from the beam gives me enough time to daze around MY some more, landing strike after strike, punch after punch, and even kick after kick. I’m just too quick for MY… He doesn’t seem that great of a challenge for being the leader of such a group. With my attack persisting, I notice MY slowly backing up, that is, until he’s cornered. At this point I know he’s weakening down to my close combat prowess, and his backup is occupied. I swing another big hit, but I feel something attach around my arm, hindering it from movement. It’s MY’s hand grasped around my arm. Going to knock him out of it, I swing another strong fist, but it too is locked in place by MY’s other arm. I see in his face a mood of complete rage and, in a way, some psychopathic look. Another thing that comes to my sight is another set of missiles ready to launch. In a desperate attempt, I deliver another power kick, but MY seems to be unaffected. I think he’s going to take me down with a bombardment of missiles, and with ABY and AY distracted enough, I have to think of a way on my own. Noticing the faint blue glow behind the missiles, I struggle every which way, but nothing seems to be helping. MY laughs up close to my face, but not out loud. “You’re going nowhere… You think you can take on MY at close-range and still get away?” His voice sounds like a psycho itself. I feel the energy of my body radiate to my hands in a last-ditch effort to get free. Putting all of my power into it, I fire what will probably be my most powerful dark blast ever, being two to be precise. Just turning my wrists enough, the energy unloads into MY, who seems to lose his extreme rage, getting blown back with intense force from the energy. The missiles still launch and head every which way, creating major explosions everywhere… Through the current destruction, I notice MY’s head bash against the wall. Somehow, I don’t see any major blood stains, but most likely, he’s internally bleeding and unconscious… My job is done from that. Looking around, I feel a small piece of metal hit my head. That makes me look up at the crumbling ceiling from the extreme explosions that just occurred. I look over to ABY and AY, who are still occupied in what looks as winning battles. Not long after the events going on, I feel very dizzy and disoriented from my own attack. I notice blurry vision again, just like what happened against all of the large tripods. My body exhausted of energy, if CnY and BdY notice me, then I’m such an easy target for a sacrificial kill at least. Time is running out though, and I can’t decide on what to do; help ABY and AY, or just try to save myself. I take a knee to help conserve my energy without having to actually sleep, and watch the battle from afar. CnY appears to have his cannons disabled for he’s not using them, even at a distance. BdY appears tired with less-reflexive actions. ABY and AY keep applying the pressure. I just hope they know the time is ticking down. Another piece of metal, much larger in size, lands near me with a loud clap of noise. It’s too dangerous to stay here apparently… Raising up from my kneel, I slowly make my way to the outside, watching out for more dangers, which are hard to identify. Luckily, my positioning on the battlefield has left me close to the large exit, so in less than a minute, I’m already out. Now a decent distance from potential danger, I notice ABY and AY hastily making their way out too, being pursued by BdY and CnY. Metal sheets start to fall from the outer sides of the building now, which means that in less than a few minutes, the building will be history. One thing my blurry vision notices is CnY charging another laser from his cannon, which begins to increase in glow and power. I notice ABY and AY are oblivious to the event, for they’re focused on getting enough distance away as well… I can’t let them take such a blow this late into a battle because surely, they’re just as weakened as them. I decide that now is the time I truly return the favor for these two showing me what it means to have battling friends and showing me field tactics. Mustering all the energy I can into myself, I make a mad dash towards ABY and AY. At the same time, CnY fires the overcharged burst, knocking him back within the building. He also makes contact with BdY by mistake, and is also sent flying backwards. The size of the pulse is immense, and finally, ABY and AY turn to notice a possible fate. Nearing the two, I shove myself into the air with a dive that goes just over ABY and AY, who appear to notice me looking back at them. They appear shocked to see the pulse of energy make contact with me, sending an immense shock throughout my whole body. It finishes with a massive explosion, sending me into a spiral nearly vertically up into the air. At this point, I’ve taken too much, and I feel numb everywhere as my vision fades to black… I hear a huge crash too, which is supposedly the building crumbling to its demise. What was the purpose for my sacrificial self? I can only say this. With friends, it’s best to save them if they’re close enough and mean enough to you… ABY did it for me, and although he got away with it, I can only hope for me… (One day later in the afternoon…) I ache all over my body as I feel restricted of movement. When my eyes open, I can see myself laying down with much of care already being distributed. I can see a few yoshies around me, including Britshi, who gives a sigh of relief to see me awake once again. ABY and AY also seem to notice myself being awaked as they both approach me in my best at what I see is a hospital, somewhat destroyed by the havoc from before, but still standing. “I can’t believe you actually came back…” ABY appears somewhat amazed as he says so. I myself, however, don’t have my voice back yet, so I barely nod up and down. AY looks down at me as her nose touches mine. “You put your life at extreme risk, just to save us. That’s the highest honor for anyone to receive, even for us,” AY comments with a light enough voice to keep it comfortable. She then gives me a tiny kiss on my nose, which is rather amusing to me, even in my state of immobility… I guess ABY and AY are going to stay until I can get better. (Switch to my point of view.) As you can see, Brenndan miraculously makes it alive by just a sliver of hope… Four days later, Brenndan could move around again with some pain, but still fully mobile nonetheless. The threat of MY and his vast army have passed with no hope of returning. The yoshies of Yoshi’s Island look at Brenndan, AY, and ABY as three of the world’s greatest heroes to ever set foot on the free-life of the yoshies. Brenndan was also, obviously, lifted of his banishment for his past-life events. A week after the awarding ceremony, things began to revert to normal on Yoshi’s Island, most of the island restored to its natural self in the past. At this point, ABY and AY give their last regards to Brenndan before awaiting Dimension Yoshi to make his appearance and to conclude the Crisis of Yoshi’s Island. -----------------------------------
