The Story
It's a racing Kart Game so again,
there isn't
one. Get from A to B without becoming any less than first. Again.
The Game
As the name suggests,
You use 2 characters: one driving,
one defending your prized position. It's sure fire fun. Currently, it sits
as one of my favorite games on the Gamecube. If there were any problems with
this title, it'd be some of the characters voices, although, (Yeah, I would
say this me being an avid Yoshi fan) they've perfected Yoshi's voice. It
fits him perfectly. Shame there's a nasty vocal transition of Birdo's voice
from Super Mario Advance's Birdo. Now it sounds as though the person doing
her voice was having fun with a whoopee cushion while recording (She's one
of my favorite characters too!). Another surprising factor of Double Dash
was that it actually matters what kart and character combination you use.
All the characters have weights, and Yoshi just so happens to be classed as
a 'medium weight competitor', the same as Birdo. Bowser would obviously be
classed as 'heavy weight' and baby Mario and Luigi are classed as 'light
weight'. Some people pick Yoshi and Bowser, so that while Yoshi's driving,
the kart turn's better, and the rear doesn't skid. I just happen to be using
Birdo and Yoshi because I'm a fan of both. The Karts have characteristics
too. One kart may have better handling than another which has higher maximum
speed. All these different characteristics have to be taken into account to
make winning easier.
The Tracks you'll go
round are pretty tricky but as with the previous Mario Kart games, the Yoshi
tracks remain the trickier. Mario Kart 64's 'Yoshi
Valley' was exceedingly difficult to master the first time. If you've never
played it, the track had that many places to go round you would end up going
in circles trying to find a way out. Double Dash's 'Yoshi circuit' isn't as
difficult as Mario Kart 64's 'Yoshi Valley', but it's
just as difficult to master as the track is Yoshi. You'll be going round a
track the shape of Yoshi. It's a good track though, same as another Double
Dash Track called 'Waluigi Stadium'.
It's a very easy game to
get into. The controls are simple, and your competition's tough.

Codes
1.- How do I get the Turbo Birdo?
Simple, if you use Baby M+L. Although, I recommend making it hard on yourself and using Yoshi and Birdo, win the Flower cup in 150cc mode.

FAQs
1.- Hey PinkFloydYoshi, what Mario Kart characters and karts do you use?
Wow, this is getting repetitive, but it's slightly different, as it's Double dash. Yoshi and Birdo, on the Turbo Yoshi. Preferred Yoshi driving. (Don't ask why...)
2.- How do I tell the difference between normal pickups and bomb pickups?
Slightly more difficult on this one compared to Mario Kart 64. If you're approaching the pickup slowly, or have a good eye and quick reflexes, you'll notice that the box turns red for a very brief period. If it does, get out the way! If not, I hope you've got a good lead...
